I entered Basic Training in June of 1966. It was my first experience with the heat of the Texas sun, I guess it was getting me ready for Nam.

My first orders took me to McConnell AFB in Wichita, Kansas in the 835th Supply Squadron, Tactical Air Command as a Material Facilities Specialist. We primarily supported the F105 Aircraft. Here I am in front of the Supply Squadron Barricks. It's 1966 and talk about" high water pants". At 6' 3 1/2" and 155 lbs pants wern't easy to find that fit.

I understand the uniform,s but civies, come on!

Who took that picture? Peek-a-boo!

Blah blah blah!!

I would be negligent if I did not mention here that I also met my wife, of now 44 year,s when I was at McConnell. I've given her more grief than any one woman should have to live through and she has stuck with me through all of it. Too bad they don't make a medal for wives like her. |
